Book Worm Workout

Writer's picture: cesphysiorehabcesphysiorehab

Storytime doesn’t have to be just for bedtime. Reading your child a story and brining in a workout for them is a great way to get their jitters out before an afternoon nap.

Try to select a book which has a word that often gets repeated. Assign that selected word with an exercise, like jumping jacks. Every time the word comes up in the story, they will have to do that exercise.

Below are a few examples of repetitive storybooks:

- Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed by Eileen Christelow

- Blue Hat, Green Hat by Sandra Boynton

- Are You My Mother by P.D. Eastman

- Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault

- The Lorax by Dr. Seuss
