Office Chair Recommendation

In previous posts, we have discussed how to select a pillow or mattress that best fits you. In today’s post, we will discuss chair selection.

Desk work or studying can make us sit quite a lot. And it is not uncommon that people suffered from low back pain after sitting for a long time. There are a lot of pricey ergonomics chairs out there, however, is there a perfect chair? what makes a chair best suit you?

The answer is no, there is no perfect chair and no perfect position. Research suggested that changing your position throughout the day is the best way to prevent back pain. This is because our muscles tend to creep and create soreness when staying in one position for too long. Therefore, selecting a chair that is adjustable in multiple directions would allow you to change your position multiple times during the day.

Some features to consider when getting an office chair:

- Adjustable height

- Adjustable seat pan depth

- Adjustable lumbar support

- Adjustable headrest

- Waterfall edge

- Removable/ adjustable armrests

- Tilting backrest

- Rolling

- Comfortable

Posture rules during sitting:

- Change posture frequently

- Avoid forward flexion of head and neck

- Upper arms should be kept relaxed

- Avoid twisting

- Back support should be used and allowed to be reclined greater than 90 degrees
